Youth participate in World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine

All Westminster youth and their friends are invited to participate in the World Vision 30-hour Famine to be held at Westminster Friday, Apr. 27 – Saturday, Apr. 28. This event is designed to raise funds for—and awareness about—world hunger. The fast will start after lunch on Friday and that night the participants will gather at Westminster to learn about poverty and hunger, and then sleep outside in the courtyard in makeshift cardboard huts (weather permitting). There will also be plenty of activities to keep participants busy throughout the night. Then on Saturday, participants will spend the day distributing care packages to the homeless.

Westminster members are invited to support this effort in the following ways:

  1. Sponsoring a participant: just $35 can help feed and care for a child for a month
  2. Donating items for care packages:
    • Travel size toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, tissue, bandaids)
    • Socks: gray or white (most people prefer gray)
    • Small snacks or single serving non-perishable foods: protein bars, peanut butter (small jars), crackers, trail mix/nuts
    • Other items: small note pads, pens/pencils, playing cards, small games, etc.
  3. Pray: ask God to bring participants together and to help those in need every day

The youth will be available after both services to collect donations and answer any questions after both services on Apr. 8 and 22. For more information or to participate, e-mail
