The youth and children of Westminster have more than successfully raised the money needed for a ”mooving” gift they will buy this December - a dairy cow for a family in need.
The original goal was to raise enough funds to purchase one cow, and after a surge of support from the congregation and Westminster community, we are pleased to announce that the youth and children have raised enough to purchase THREE COWS!
The program is through the Presbyterian Giving Catalog and it will improve the food and income security for a family or village in Kenya. The youngsters raised the money through various activities including a bake sale they held during the Nov. 12 Alternative Gift Fair as well as selling See’s candy Nov. 19 and 26 after both services.
A dairy cow can provide a family in need with a reliable source of income and nourishment, according to program organizers it also offers training in caretaking and sustainable breeding of livestock, creating an environment that will flourish for years.
Thank you to everyone who contributed…we look forward do doing this again in 2018!
