Spring Gathering to feature speaker from Gender Health Center

Plan on attending the PWOW Spring Gathering on Sunday, May 20 at 12 noon.

This year’s guest speaker is Keyko Torres, Community Outreach Lead Organizer of the Gender Health Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the whole community in Sacramento and surrounding areas by making its services accessible to the most under-served communities , including the LGBTQQI community (with a focus on the “T” or transgender community). Her presentation will support our study of the issues to increase our appreciation, understanding, and support of the LGBTQQI community.

At this gathering, we will also be receiving the Birthday Offering, which will support three projects:

  1. Construction of a cottage village in Cottage Grove, Oregon consisting of 13 tiny houses and a shared use area that will serve as a compassionate and protective community for vulnerable rural citizens.
  2. Purchase of the Village of Grace Center for Physical and Spiritual Health near Tegucigalpa, Honduras to provide international hospitality for retreats, workshops, and mission for use as a retreat center managed by Presbyterian women in Honduras for use for  and mission teams from PC(USA), Solar Under the Sun, and Living Waters for the World.
  3. A grant to The Dwelling Place in Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota for purchase of additional land and construction of a multi-use building to enable additional programming, meeting space, and living space, all of which will enable the center to serve more women and children who are seeking safety.

This year, we will  be serving chicken salad (either as a salad or sandwich). Please let us know of any dietary restrictions in advance so that we can accommodate you! Call the office at (916)442-8939 to sign-up, or look for a registration table after church. The cost is $10/person (pay at the door). RSVP by May 18.
