Rev. Dr. Mary Westfall to preach on Maundy Thursday
Our Maundy Thursday service is Mar. 29 at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Dr. Mary E. Westfall has been part of the PCUSA nearly her entire life. Daughter of a Presbyterian minister, Mary attended San Francisco Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1988. She refers to her first call to a congregation in New York City as a “crash course” in ministry due to the dynamism and intensity of the setting. Another decade was spent as a university chaplain, directing an ecumenical ministry, teaching in the philosophy department and finishing her doctorate. For the past 17 years, Mary was head of staff for a progressive United Church of Christ congregation and co-founder of Voices of Faith, an interfaith organization in Northern New England working to connect people of faith with social justice advocacy and witness.

New to Sacramento Presbytery as of fall 2017, she now serves as a consultant and pastoral partner for congregations in transition or seeking to deepen their engagement with the social gospel and the call to love one’s neighbor. Mary looks forward to being with the Westminster congregation at such a meaningful time on Maundy Thursday.
