Congratulations to everyone at William Land Elementary School and
to the Westminster volunteers who continue to play a role in the
school’s success. In 2008, William Land Elementary School was
selected by the State of California as a 2008 Distinguished
School, and the partnership continues to bear fruit.
Without passing judgment, and in a spirit of love and
hospitality, Loaves & Fishes feeds the hungry and shelters
the homeless. We provide an oasis of welcome, safety, and
cleanliness for homeless men, women and children seeking survival
services. Members from Westminster regularly volunteer.
Women’s Empowerment educates and empowers women who are homeless
with the skills and confidence necessary to get a job, create a
healthy lifestyle, and regain a home for themselves and their
children.
Middle and high school youth from all over get together for
dinner, ping-pong, foosball, volleyball, or just hang out. This
year, we’ve added our version of Minute to Win It games!
Our social hall provides a “home base” for youth with a
free dinner and fellowship on Wednesday nights during the school
year. This program specifically engages youth both from our
church and from the local community.
Kids who think ballet is not for them should see William Land
Elementary School’s dance class taught by the Sacramento Ballet.
“Certainly no one could make that comment about ballet as it’s
being taught at William Land right now,” said Phil Stohr, a
volunteer with Westminster Presbyterian Church, which supports
the program.
Westminster volunteers support the Refugee and Emergency
Resettlement Mission. Hundreds of beds, tables, sofas, chairs,
desks, cribs, dressers, and other household items have been
donated over the years. These essential items help a refugee
family settle in America and start a new life.
Westminster Deacons are a group of elected members who provide a
caring ministry for members of the church and for the community.
A strong emphasis on outreach is included in their work. Find out
what they’re doing to improve the community and put the church’s
faith into action.
Westminster Presbyterian Church has supported the River City Food
Bank with donations of food for many years. Please bring a
donation to Westminster this weekend!
