Introducing Pastor Wesley Nordman
Pastor Nominating Committee
Wes first caught our attention when he stated he was attracted to inclusive churches that are mission-focused and prone to outbursts of grace-induced happiness. Wes shares our commitment to scripture and our respect for intellectual freedom. He brings the skills to empower our church to be a place of human transformation and the willingness to discern with us how to adapt to the 21st century. Wes’s references were outstanding, stressing his skills in leadership development, his readiness to try new things and his ability to utilize the skills of the people in the congregation. He is an approachable, active listener, a good preacher and a lover of music.
Wes comes to us from Woodland Park Presbyterian in Seattle where he has served as Senior Pastor since 2003. Prior to that, Wes served as Head of Staff at Dixon Community Church here in California from 1998 to 2003. From 1993 to 1998 Wes served as Pastor to Westvale Presbyterian in Utah. He was employed as a probation officer in Stockton from 1987 to 1993 and for two of those years served Stockton’s First Presbyterian as their Youth Director. Over the past decade Wes has sat on the Committee of Ministry in both the Sacramento and Seattle Presbyteries.
Wes’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Bethany College (1982) and a Master of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary (1986).
Wes and his wife Shelby have four children: Ali, 20 years old, Blakely, 18 years old, Erika, 12 years old, and Jack, 11 years.
