Connecting on Wednesdays begins September 17th

As summer winds down its time to prepare ourselves for another "Connecting on Wednesdays"!

We meet every other week beginning Wednesday evening, September 17th. Each week starts with fellowship around the dinner table at 5:45pm in the Fellowship Hall, followed by your choice of small group studies from 6:30 to 7:30pm in the various classrooms.  We are very excited about the wide variety of topics in our Fall Class Offerings on the schedule below and hope you find a class of interest to you. Please highlight these dates on your calendar:

Every other week: 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, and 11/19.

Minimum donation for dinner is $5.00 for adults, $2.50 for children (10 & under), and $15.00 for a family. In order to better control our costs this year we are asking participants for donations in advance at the time of registration. If you are able to donate more it helps us fund scholarships for those who cannot pay. If you need scholarship funds please talk to Wilma White or Garry Cox. Everyone should come regardless of their ability to pay!

Childcare is available – parents must make those needs known at the time of registration in order to insure adequate coverage.

About Connecting on Wednesdays

Sometimes referred to as “COW”, Connecting on Wednesdays is a six-week intergenerational program that began in the Spring and Fall of 2006 and continues to be about building relationships and sharing our faith stories through interaction. The primary goal is developing healthy church relationships as proposed by the Healthy Church Planning Task Force in 2005.

Schedule for Fall 2008

Religious Perspectives on Globalization - Dr. Garry Cox, Facilitator

A study of the different faith traditions and theological perspectives on economic and cultural globalization. India case study along with other points of view will be offered.

Tribal Drumming/Meditation/Chanting – Facilitator to be announced

Join us in the chapel to tap into God’s presence through a different way of expressing the soul’s longing to know God.

Parenting With Love and Logic – Susan Trunnell, MA, MFT & Diana Wright, Director of Youth Ministry

Join these two women to gain insight, new tools, and perhaps a new perspective about parenting styles and our relationship with our children.

Science and Religion Series  - Jim Davis, Facilitator

This was a very well received class in the spring. Jim has agreed to continue to offer this class because there are so many questions about the relationship between science and religion. Are they really compatible?

Computer Class – Mac Clemmens

Mac is returning to present this class as only he can – with humor, knowledge and sensitivity. This has always been a popular class for the first-time user. Learn how to use email, the Internet, create and save files, and more! Limited computers available.

Membership 101 – Dr. David Thompson, Facilitator

This class is for brand new members and those who are considering joining Westminster Presbyterian Church

Membership 201 – Elder Phoebe DeMund, Facilitator

“You learned what is involved in becoming a member at Westminster in the New Member Orientation Classes. Membership 201 is a collaboration among its participants to explore with one another how membership in Christ’s call can change, maybe should change…. or maybe has already changed…our whole lives.”
