Lenten Schedule for 2010

The Lenten Season will include a Retreat and three Lenten Evensong Services:

Lenten Retreat: "Seeking God With Your Whole Heart"

Ash Wednesday, February 17 - 1:30pm to 4:30pm

Retreat Leader: The Rev. Robert (Bob) Fernandez

This is a three hour afternoon retreat combining song, Scripture readings, reflection, silence, and sacred conversation. Lent invites us to go on a pilgrimage of forty days in preparation for the great celebration of Easter, and Ash Wednesday begins the journey. We will focus on the meaning of pilgrimage, God’s Faithful Promises, and Commitment to God’s Ways. You are cordially invited to attend. Please call the church office at (916) 442-8939 to reserve your place and to ensure the printing of your retreat material.

Lenten Evensong Services scheduled in February and March:

Sunday, February 21st at 4:30pm with Rev. Tom Oxtoby and the Praise Band. Followed at 5:00pm by a simple supper in the Club Room.

Sunday, March 7th at 4:30pm with Rev. John Stevens and the Westminster Choir. Followed at 5:00pm by a simple supper in the Club Room.

Sunday, March 21st at 4:30pm with Rev. Bob Fernandez and the Westminster Ringers. Followed at 5:00pm by a simple supper in the Club Room.

The focus of these quiet, contemplative services will be community: How we find and serve God within our own church community and in our greater communities. We will look into our own community with special homilies from members of our own congregation. We will look out into world communities including the Iona Community, the Taize Community and Quaker Communities. Peter Hill and our music groups of Westminster will lead special music and liturgies. Everyone is invited!
