River City Community Services

The only Sacramento food bank that is open every weekday to anyone experiencing hunger.

The congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church has a close working relationship with River City Community Services (RCCS), promoting a food drive on the second Sunday of every month. Helping those in need is central to our mission as a church, and no one should be hungry.

Please bring all you can to church with you on the second Sunday of each month. The need is great and if we all work together we can help.

For more information about RCCS, we invite you visit their website: www.rivercitycommunityservices.org

About River City Community Services

River City Community Services (RCCS) provides compassionate assistance, nutritionally balanced emergency food, crisis housing aid and hope to people working toward self-reliance.

For low income seniors, single parents, children, medically fragile, and working poor families, food insecurity and malnutrition are threats to their health and well being. By providing nutritious food and crisis housing aid, RCCS helps families get through emergencies and difficult times.

Started in 1968 as a simple food closet, River City Community Services is the city’s oldest continuously operating emergency food services, giving aid to low income families throughout Sacramento County.

The majority of people who access RCCS for emergency food and crisis housing aid are families with children. In 2007, through our food program, we served a total of 29,122 people; 32% were children. Since Fall 2007, 40% of the meals distributed by River City Community Services have been to support the nutritional needs of children, including infant formula and baby food.

River City Community Services helps all low income families and individuals by providing a three day supply of healthy, nutritional food. When more services and aid is needed, RCCS also provides referrals to other agencies.
