Movers and Drivers Needed!

The Westminster Refugee & Emergency Resettlement Mission needs drivers and movers to help with the resettlement of refugees and those with emergency needs. The Mission is dangerously close to not being able to meet the needs of these desparate families. We need those who can move moderate to heavy furniture once or twice a month. We also need those who may have a truck, trailer or SUV.

If you can help, please email us by using the Contact Form and be sure to select Refugee Mission from the pull down menu at the bottom of the form.

About the Mission

The Westminster Refugee & Emergency Resettlement Mission has been operating under the guidance Carol Merritt for 28 years. She works tirelessly with various government agencies and families in need, often communicating through translators, coordinating drop-offs and pick-ups, and using her own home as the transfer point for furniture, household items, bicycles, toys, clothing, etc. During this time the Mission has assisted a minimum of 3,500 families in need. With a conservative estimate of an average 3-4 people per family, the number of people helped by this program since 1980 likely exceeds 10,000. No other program at Westminster has had this kind of widespread impact or helped so many families in need. Carol is now receiving inquiries and donations from other churches including Fremont Presbyterian, Centennial Methodist, and Celtic Cross Presbyterian.

These families are from Ukraine, Bosnia, Cambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Burma, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iran, and Iraq. They are often victims of religious persecution for crimes such as reading the Bible to their children. Others are political and economic refugees. More recently, we are seeing refugees who are victims of human trafficking, slavery, and forced labor.
