Mission and Vision

Mission

Westminster Presbyterian Church is a community of faith, accepting the love and grace of God, as shown through the life and teachings of the Jesus of history and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In worship, we celebrate God’s love. For spiritual development, we participate in study, prayer, meditation and fellowship, inviting everyone to learn with us the meaning of Jesus’ message of compassion, hope and reconciliation. We accept all people as members and leaders solely on the basis of their affirmation of faith in Jesus Christ.

We seek to nurture and to serve, ministering to each other and to God’s creation, speaking out to promote justice for all humanity. We pray for understanding as we reach out to those without faith and listen to those of other faiths, accepting all as sisters and brothers in one family of our Creator God.

Vision

Historic Westminster Presbyterian Church, strategically located across from California’s Capitol, seeks to be a joyous, vibrant, spiritual community and a voice for justice and mercy. We aspire to be a diverse, welcoming, regional congregation, seeking spiritual insights that lead to positive actions. Through worship and open, respectful exploration of the meaning of Jesus’ message, we look for ways to apply his message of love in our lives and in the world.
